Topics range from blogging, audio, iPod Touch, wikis, flip video and digital photography, Google Earth, and Voice Thread. These are just a few and the presentations are excellent snippets of professional development.

Bits of information — such as text, links, photos, and other media — are placed into “nodes,” which are then linked together in an appealing interface that invites exploration. SpicyNodes can be used for everything from mind maps and content portals to organizational charts and lesson plans.
Literacy.Net Resources for Preschool & Kindergarten
The Literacy Center Education Network is a non-profit organization with a mission to deliver free, professionally-designed, education material to preschool-age children. Good for individual practice or use on IWBs. Also good to use with ELL students.

Birmingham Museum for Kids (not Alabama but the UK) has resources for student learning on the topics of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Roman Empire, Victorians, and World War II. There is also an Art Gallery and a Museum Zone to explore.
Study Jams Instructional Videos from Scholastic has more than 200 topics you can use to introduce science and math concepts to elementary age students. These are truly excellent and would work perfectly with IWBs.
Brain Pop STEM Resources
The special STEM-themed Spotlight we mentioned in last month’s newsletter – supporting the National STEM Video Game Challenge – is now live! It’s also free through January 5, the contest’s deadline. Participating middle schoolers are invited to take advantage of our resources as they build their video games. Topics include Video Games, Digital Animation, Ada Lovelace, Energy Sources, Gravity, Geologic Time, Electric Circuits, Basic Probability, Natural Selection, and Statistics. Lexipedia. Com allows you to type in a word and receive a web of synonyms, antonyms, or “fuzzy” synonyms. Looks great for student writing projects or reading vocabulary practice.

Kate.Net Thanksgiving Resources has desktop wallpaper, coloring sheets, clip art and more to help you and your students celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving.
Visual Fractions Web Site is great for IWB use as you teach fractions lessons or students can work through exercises independently for practice.
The Problem Site has a nice collection of math games for problem solving.
