A Book and a Hug These are great tools for getting kids to make and keep lists, to make lists with friends which promotes what I call social reading, or for a class or an entire school to create a shared list.

Hello Educational Insights Visitors,

ABookandaHug is designed to help young readers aged 0-15 to find the book that best suits their reading personality. A great classroom exercise being used across the country is to have the boys click on Books for Boys and the girls click on Books for Girls.. They can read through the four reading personalities under each and have the fun of deciding who they are. Then, there are books that match to each personality. Makes finding a book a bit easier.

Visitors to abookandahug can now write reviews to be posted on the site. Just click on Write Review. No email address is required. Some teachers are using a generic class title… Mrs. Grant’s Second Grade for example. It’s exciting to see the kids posting their reviews and comments about the books… encourage them to add their first name, state, country at the end of their review or comments.

Books Alive: Author and illustrator interviews. Free to download and use in your classroom/media center.

REad Around the World: Click on the continent… click on the country… find a book!

Have fun and enjoy,
